Fall Premiere for U.S. Top Gear

NEW YORK: Production begins today on the U.S. version of Top Gear, with BBC Worldwide Productions readying the show for a fall premiere on HISTORY.

The ten-episode show about automobiles and driving, co-produced by HISTORY and BBC Worldwide, will be hosted by comedian Adam Ferrara, champion rally and drift racer Tanner Foust and racing analyst Rutledge Wood. Nancy Dubuc, president and general manager of the channel said in announcing the new series: “History of the automobile and the history of America are intimately intertwined—to celebrate one is to celebrate the other. I am thrilled to bring the U.S. version of this massively popular series to our viewers, working with the incredibly talented team at BBC Worldwide Productions. Top Gear is an intelligent, entertaining show—unique and groundbreaking in its format—a perfect match for us.”

Top Gear launched in the U.K, in 1977 and is consistently one of the top shows on BBC Two. It reaches more than 150 million households worldwide, including the U.S., where the British version airs on BBC America.
