ER Boosts Home-Entertainment Catalogue

LONDON, September 18: Entertainment Rights (ER) has secured the U.K.
home-entertainment rights to the animated children’s comedy series Frankenstein’s
Cat
.

As part of the deal, ER has
included the option to distribute further series and spin-offs as the show
develops. ER is launching the first Frankenstein’s Cat DVD on October 20 called The Cat From A Kit. The initial DVD will contain eight 11-minute
episodes selected from the TV series and bonus content including an interactive
game.

The show features two
worlds, Castle Frankenstein, a center of mad scientific excellence and home to
Nine the cat, and the village of Oddsburg where Lottie lives. A unique
friendship develops between these characters that forms the basis of a strong
narrative.

A co-production between
Mackinnon & Saunders and Kayenta Production, the series is distributed
internationally by CCI Entertainment. Frankenstein’s Cat originated as a children’s picture storybook
created by Curtis Jobling.

Julia Mallinson, the
director of home entertainment for ER, said: “ER’s home-entertainment division
is committed to acquiring new hot properties which are guaranteed to have a
strong shelf life in the U.K. DVD market. Frankenstein’s Cat is already proven to be successful pulling in big
audiences around the world on CBBC, France 3 and ABC Australia. We are
delighted to have acquired the rights to the brand and it is a perfect fit for
ER’s kids and family programming portfolio, which spans over 3,600 hours of
high-quality content. The first DVD is likely to be a stocking filler ‘must
have’ for kids at Christmas.”
