EPIX Scores Carriage on Charter

ST. LOUIS/NEW YORK: Charter Communications is to launch EPIX in May, adding to existing carriage on Verizon’s FiOS TV service and Cox Communications cable platform to make the new premium entertainment service available to some 16 million homes.

EPIX, operated by Viacom, Lionsgate and MGM, offers the latest Hollywood movies, with around 15,000 films from the libraries of its three parent studios. “Teaming with a cable operator that has the reach of Charter significantly increases our national footprint and is an important step forward as we bring the EPIX multi-screen experience to the current audience and the next generation of viewers who will be watching entertainment on both television and emerging platforms,” Mark Greenberg, the president of EPIX, said.

“Video consumption is evolving, and our customers want access to the best movies and entertainment, when they want it and on multiple platforms,” added Rich DiGeronimo, Charter’s VP of product management. “We strive to continuously add more entertainment options and enhance the overall experience for our customers, and EPIX offers new content with convenience and control for our customers through a linear, on-demand and online total viewing experience.”
