Entara Scores Worldwide Nick Deal

LONDON, March 2: Entara has
reached a global deal with Nickelodeon for its new CGI series Those Scurvy Rascals, a 26×3.5-minute show that is
slated to begin airing this spring.

The deal covers the on-air, online
and digital mobile rights to the show, which is also set to air in the U.S. on
Nicktoons.

Acquired by Entara and developed by the British animation studio Blue-zoo, Those
Scurvy Rascals
is a short-form CGI animation series that follows the humorous adventures
of a group of hapless pirates as they roam the high seas on an obsessive quest
for pants. Other broadcast partners on board include TV2 (Denmark), NRK (Norway), SVT
(Sweden), SF (Switzerland) and Teletoon (Canada).

Those Scurvy Rascals is a great complement to Nick’s hit animation portfolio,”
commented Jules
Borkent, the VP of programming at Nickelodeon International. “Its quirky and humorous style will really appeal to our
audiences around the world across a variety of demos and platforms.”

Regis
Brown, the EVP of Entara, added: “This
agreement with Nickelodeon 2007 marks the start of a significant year for Those
Scurvy Rascals
and a wave of exciting new
developments. Nickelodeon is without a doubt the perfect broadcast partner for
this unique animation and we are looking forward to working together as Those
Scurvy Rascals
sets sail worldwide.”

In other Entara news, the company
has appointed former BBC executive Theresa Plummer-Andrews as non-executive
director, effective immediately. She will provide strategic advice and expertise
on the future growth of the business and become the newest member of the Entara
board. Plummer-Andrews is the former head of acquisitions and co-productions
for BBC Children’s.
