Endemol International Inks Deals Across Catalogue

CANNES,
April 16: Endemol International announced a slew of deals on the first day of
MIPTV on titles from across its catalogue, including game show and
entertainment formats and completed shows out of the U.K.

Circus
Of The Celebrities
, following its success on Canale 5 in Italy and TVI in
Portugal, has been ordered for 12 episodes by TV Globo for a June broadcast,
while in Turkey ATV has bought 13 episodes. The show has also launched on
Telefe in Argentina and TV ONT in Belarus.

The
hybrid reality entertainment format Diet Club has been bought by Chile’s Canal
13, having established itself as a long running hit on Canal 13 in Argentina.
The series is slated for a run of 200 episodes launching in May.

Following
its success on India’s SET, the talent format Strictly Dancing has notched up two new
territories and secured two recomissions. Globo in Brazil and Show TV in Turkey
have both snapped up the format for a run of 13 episodes. Meanwhile, in Spain,
the show has returned for a fifth series on TVE whilst in Portugal RTP has has
brought the series back for a third run.

Endemol
U.K.’s new comedy panel show format Would I Lie To You has been bought by
Kyknet in South Africa for a run of 26 episodes to premiere in a prime time slot
this May. The show has already been commissioned by BBC One and is due for
transmission later this year. Also from Endemol UK, Ready Steady Cook has been commissioned
by TVP2 for a run of 16 episodes.

On
the game show hunt, 1 vs. 100 is heading to Turkey’s Cine 5 for a 13-episode run in
May; and to Korea with KBS, which signed up for 20 episodes. The format has now
been sold to a total of 24 countries. Deal Or No Deal, meanwhile, has now
secured 60 deals worldwide.

On
the completed program front, Discovery U.S. took Brighter Pictures’ documentary
Larger Than Life—Eating Yourself To Death, which initally aired on Five in
the U.K. It has now been sold to a total of ten territories including Nine
Network in Australia, Viasat in Scandinavia, RTL in the Netherlands and SBS in
Belgium.

Quads, another Brighter
Pictures production for Five, has sold to Viasat in Sweden, Norway and Denmark,
while Endemol U.K.’s dating show Fool Around With… has been bought by TV4
in Sweden.

TVNZ
in New Zealand has taken Zeppotron’s 6×30-minute comedy sketch series Spoons, which has now been
picked up in six countries following its success on Channel 4. Also originally
for Channel 4 is Initial’s fashion and music event Armani One Night Only which has been snapped
up by A&E in Latin America.
