Elisabeth Murdoch to Chair International Emmy Award Gala

NEW YORK, May 20: Shine Group’s
chief executive and chairman, Elisabeth Murdoch, will serve as the Gala Chair for the 36th International Emmy Awards,
set to take place November 24 in New York City.

“By bringing Reveille
under the Shine umbrella, Elisabeth Murdoch has emerged as one of the leading
media figures in the U.K. and the global marketplace,” said Bruce Paisner, the
president and CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts &
Sciences.

Murdoch said: “I’ve long
been a supporter of the International Academy’s work to recognize creativity
and excellence in global television. The awards gala is the prestigious forum
where these achievements are celebrated and as such I am delighted and honored
to be its chair this year.”

Founded in 2001, Shine
Group includes the production companies Reveille, Shine, Princess Productions,
Firefly and Kudos. Murdoch founded Shine after several years at BSkyB. She
began her career in television at the Nine Network in Australia as a
researcher, later joining Fox and then FX. In 1995 she started her own company,
EP Communications, managing two NBC affiliate television stations.

This year’s awards will
also see Dick Wolf receiving the International Emmy Founders Award and Liu
Changle, the chairman and CEO of Phoenix Satellite Television, receiving the
International Emmy Directorate Award.

The International Emmy
nominees will be announced at a press conference at MIPCOM on October 13, 2008.
