E1 Reports Revenue Gains

TORONTO: Entertainment One (E1) increased its revenues by 30 percent in the year ended March 31, 2010, to $709.8 million, with a pre-tax profit of $11 million, as compared with a year-ago loss of $49.5 million.

The company reported gains in its theatrical division, thanks primarily to its distribution in the U.K. and Canada of Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Other highlights include the delivery of 213 half-hours of original programming and international expansion into Australia, New Zealand and France.

CEO Darren Throop commented: "We are extremely pleased with the strong performance of the Group this year and the progress being made positioning the business as one of the world’s leading independent entertainment companies. Growth is anticipated to continue in the current financial year underpinned by a strong slate of film releases and television productions. We are optimistic that the move to the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange will enable the Group to further enhance shareholder value."
