Drop Dead Diva Sees Strong Debut on Lifetime

LOS ANGELES: The new one-hour comedic drama Drop Dead Diva came out of the gate well on Lifetime across key demographics, ranking as the network’s highest-rated original drama debut since the 2007 launch of Army Wives.

The July 12 premiere of Drop Dead Diva averaged a 1.6 rating, a 148-percent increase from the 9 p.m. time slot’s prior four-week average, among women 18 to 49. The show had a 1.9 rating among women 25 to 54, a 158-percent increase over the prior four-week average. In households, Drop Dead Diva scored a 2.2 rating, a gain of 103 percent from the same period four weeks. The series premiere averaged 2.8 million total viewers.

Produced for Lifetime by Sony Pictures Television, Drop Dead Diva follows a beautiful, yet vapid, model-wannabe who has a fatal car accident and is sent back to Earth in a the body of a plus-sized attorney.
