Disney to Test Toys for Lead Paint

BURBANK, September 10: In the wake of Mattel’s three recalls
over lead-paint fears in the last two months, The Walt Disney Company will
begin testing of its own toys, according to The New York Times.

Disney is expected to inform its master toy licenses of its
new testing procedures today. Andy Mooney, the chairman of Disney Consumer
Products, told the Times: “It sends the
message that we are looking over their shoulders.”

In related news, Toys “R” Us is reportedly also informing
manufacturers of its decision to conduct its own tests.
