Disney Presents Kids’ Upfront

NEW YORK: Disney Channels Worldwide has unveiled the 2010-11 programming highlights for Disney Channel and Disney XD in a presentation to U.S. advertisers.

Gary Marsh, the president of entertainment and chief creative officer at Disney Channels Worldwide, presented several new and returning Disney XD and Disney Channel projects. He also showcased the first look at Disney Channel’s next big "break into song" musical, Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam, set to premiere later this summer.

Among the new projects are Phineas and Ferb: Across the Second Dimension, an original movie based on the hit animated series for kids and tweens, set to air on Disney XD and Disney Channel. There’s also a new series from Marvel Animation headed to Disney XD, The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Also set for Disney XD is Pair of Kings, a live-action series about two twins who discover that they are the heirs to a throne of a tropical island.

New Disney Channel original movies on the slate are Avalon High, based on the popular novel by Meg Cabot, and Den Brother, which stars Hutch Dano of Disney XD’s Zeke and Luther. Disney Channel will also debut the movies 16 Wishes, a co-production with MarVista Entertainment, and Harriet the Spy: Blog Wars, a co-production with 9 Story Entertainment.

Also headed to Disney Channel are the new series Fish Hooks and Good Luck Charlie, as well as further seasons of Hannah Montana, Sonny with a Chance and Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream 2. The series JONAS is back for a second season as well.

For Playhouse Disney, Handy Manny Big Race is a new animated special, to launch alongside the series Handy Manny Big Construction Job. Further new animated series for Playhouse Disney are Jack and the Never Land Pirates and Mickey Mousekercize. A prime-time special is also slated for Playhouse Disney, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Road Rally.
