Disney Completes Marvel Acquisition

BURBANK: The Walt Disney Company last week completed its $4.3 billion acquisition of Marvel Entertainment, which was first announced at the end of August 2009.

Robert A. Iger, the president and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, commented: “We believe the creative and business potential of this combination is substantial and can help us grow both our top and bottom line, leading to a significant increase in long-term shareholder value.”

Marvel shareholders received a total of $30 a share in cash plus approximately 0.7452 Disney shares for each Marvel share they own. The Marvel stable is home to more than 5,000 characters, including Iron Man, Spider-Man, X-Men, Captain America, Fantastic Four and Thor.
