CANNES/LONDON, May 15:
Disney-ABC International Television has concluded a multi-year, multi-window
content agreement with Canal+ to bring a selection of its current and upcoming
movies and series to the French pay-TV platform’s viewers via transactional
VOD, pay-per-view and pay-TV windows.

With this agreement,
Canal+’s viewers will be able to view a wide range of current and forthcoming
movies from the portfolios of Walt Disney Pictures, Disney/Pixar, Touchstone
Pictures and Miramax Films. Titles include the Academy Award-winning There
Will be Blood
, starring Daniel Day
Lewis, and the Academy Award-nominated Enchanted, an original comedy that gives a modern twist to
the classic Disney fairytale.

Also included in the
agreement are upcoming seasons of the Golden Globe-winning series Desperate
Housewives
, following its ongoing
success on the Canal+ platform since 2005. Selected titles included in the
agreement will be available in their transactional VOD window to rent, before
being introduced to pay per view and finally, pay TV.

Catherine Powell, Disney-ABC International Television’s senior VP of
program distribution at EMEA (North), commented: “We are delighted to be
building on our long-standing relationship with Canal+. This agreement will
bring new content from our unique, schedule-driving programming portfolio to
viewers, for them to enjoy how and when they wish, across TV and new-media
windows.”

Manuel Alduy, the head of
cinema at Canal+ Group, added: "We are particularly proud to continue
building on our already solid partnership with Disney. Subscribers will now
have broader access to Disney’s unique film library at times and in places of
their choosing, thanks particularly to catch-up television and VOD. This is a
big step forward in delivering premium content in the new, fast-moving media
environment.”
