Discovery Taps Exec to Lead Mexico, Central American Operations

MIAMI, March 23: Discovery Networks Latin America/US Hispanic (DNLA/USH) has
appointed Paul Staines as the VP and country manager of Discovery Networks in
Mexico and Central America, effective immediately.

Based in Mexico City,
Staines will oversee Discovery Networks’ operations
in Mexico and Central America, including distribution, advertising sales,
programming, marketing, research, communications and consumer products. He will
also be responsible for developing new business initiatives and opportunities
for the company’s portfolio of nine brands in the region: Discovery Channel,
Discovery Kids, Animal Planet, People + Arts, Discovery Travel & Living,
Discovery Home & Health, Discovery Civilization, Discovery Science and
Discovery Turbo. Staines will report to Enrique Martinez, the executive VP and
general manager of DNLA/USH.

Staines has
nearly 20 years of experience in the Latin American business arena. He has been
part of the Discovery team since 2003, when he joined the company as the VP and
financial director of DNLAI. Previously, he was the founder and chief executive
of Staines Consulting, a firm specializing in the generation of business
solutions for strategic and financial issues. He was also the adjunct VP of
several divisions at VISA International in the Latin America and Caribbean Region, where he led a number of initiatives
to develop administrative and electronic banking services throughout the
region.
