Discovery Names VP of Programming & Business Operations

SILVER SPRING: Darcy Tomlin has been appointed to the post of VP of programming and business operations for Discovery Networks International, based at the company’s headquarters in Silver Spring.

Tomlin will serve as the liaison to bring Discovery’s content to its international channels, which include Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and ID: Investigation Discovery. She will work with programming teams to deliver Discovery’s content to a global audience, and will manage the operational side of the business, including financial and scheduling systems.

Having joined Discovery Communications in 1997, Tomlin has held various roles within the company’s Latin American division. She most recently served as director of programming for Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Discovery Science, Discovery Turbo and Discovery Civilization.

“With over 18 years in the industry, Darcy brings with her a wealth of experience in the international marketplace and a keen understanding of audience needs and programming trends,” said Marieclaire Odell, the senior VP of programming and marketing, to whom Tomlin will report. “I’m delighted that she’ll be applying this expertise to Discovery’s factual and lifestyle networks around the globe.”
