SILVER SPRING: Kevin Bennett has been tapped as the new senior VP of programming at Discovery Channel, replacing Ken Schwab.

Schwab will have direct responsibility for all aspects of Discovery Channel’s programming, including the scheduling of all dayparts. Reporting to Clark Bunting, Discovery Channel’s president and general manager (and president of Science Channel), Bennett will create a development and overall strategic plan and direction for the network. He will have oversight of all programming activities, including program planning, scheduling and programming budgets. In addition, he will work closely with new media to further integrate the content on both platforms.

A 14-year Discovery veteran, Bennett has worked on Discovery Health Channel, Discovery Times Channel and ID. "Kevin’s history with Discovery Communications and deep knowledge of our brands make him invaluable to both the company and to the network," said Bunting.
