LONDON: Darlow Smithson Productions is to co-produce the feature-length documentary Earth from Space (working title), which has been licensed by Discovery Channel Canada and NOVA.

The two-hour doc uses CGI and HD footage to showcase the latest satellite technology as the world’s leading earth scientists explore sciences mysteries and the universe. Darlow Smithson is working on the project with Handel Productions in association with Shocks of Mighty.

“We all find certain natural events fascinating, whether it be huge storms or volcanic eruptions, but most people don’t consider how these events are all inextricably linked,” said Ben Bowie, the creative director and executive producer of Darlow Smithson Productions. “Earth from Space unlocks the amazing beauty of our world in action—you’ll never look at our planet in the same way again.”

“This will be a landmark television event which will make our planet’s invisible processes visible in unprecedented detail,” added Bruce Glawson, the executive producer of Discovery Channel Canada. “We are delighted to be working with Darlow Smithson Productions and Handel Productions on this groundbreaking journey to discover how the Earth really works.”

It is directed by Iain Riddick, produced by Ruth Roberts and executive produced by Ben Bowie for Darlow Smithson, Iain Riddick for Shocks of Mighty and Alan Handel for Handel Productions. Endemol Worldwide Distribution will distribute the title.
