PARIS/LOS ANGELES: A number of member pavilions will be seen at DISCOP East for the first time, including the China-based SARFT and U.S.-based IFTA, while country-focused pavilions include Korea, Italy and Spain, among others.

The 19th edition of DISCOP East also sees the return of a French pavilion, as well as a CEE pavilion that has been created to develop inter-regional business between content producers and distributors across Central and Eastern Europe. Taking place June 21 to 23 in Budapest, the event is already slated to host more than 550 buyers, representing nearly 300 companies, along with 200 confirmed distribution companies that have already registered.

The DISCOPRO conference will take place on June 20. This year’s session, New Frontiers for Green Television Content, will focus on the cultural and business challenges and opportunities facing the production of green TV content.

Patrick Jucaud, the general manager of Basic Lead, organizers of DISCOP, said, “The importance of doing business in the CEE has never been greater and we are delighted to see global country and member associations launching umbrella stands at DISCOP East. An optimistic economic outlook; the increase in the number of CEE-based thematic and regional TV stations and alternative content distribution platforms mean we already have a stronger buyer attendance this year with more to come. The proximity of the UEFA Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine next year is also a driving factor for the need for international content throughout the region.”
