LONDON: The four-day BBC Worldwide Showcase event is planning to incorporate a day dedicated to digital, with Ted Sarandos, the chief content officer of Netflix, and Somrat Niyogi, the CEO and co-founder of the Internet start-up Miso, confirmed as speakers.

A host of seminars, panels and speeches will run throughout the day, focusing on areas such as IPTV and connected television; trends in over-the-top services; and discussions about the standardization of digital formats and delivery. Alongside Sarandos and Niyogi, Mike Walsh, the author of Futuretainment and the CEO of innovation research agency Tomorrow, will deliver a keynote.

BBC Worldwide Showcase will be held at the ACC in Liverpool from February 26 to 29, 2012.

Steve Macallister, the president and managing director for sales and distribution at BBC Worldwide, said: “Showcase guests this year are in for an incredibly rich experience. A new host city, hundreds of hours of the world’s finest new television, an abundance of on- and off-screen talent plus a whole day totally dedicated to digital exploration.

“Digital growth is a huge focus for BBC Worldwide and we’ve made great strides in the past year. I’m thrilled that we’re able to bring some of the leading minds in this space to join us in Liverpool to share and debate their insights with an international delegation.”
