DECODE Secures New Commission, Planet Sketch Renewal

TORONTO/LONDON, July 11: DECODE Entertainment has received a
commission from Canada’s YTV for the new animated action comedy Urban Vermin as
well as a second season order on Planet Sketch from Teletoon Canada and CiTV.

The 26×22-minute Urban Vermin stars two raccoon brothers, once the best of friends, who
fight over everything. “We’re certain that audiences of all ages will
get a kick out of the comical escapades of these dueling raccoon brothers,”
said Phil Piazza, the VP of programming for Corus Children’s Television.

Urban Vermin began as an idea for a video game, and DECODE aims
to maintain that multiplatform ethic with the rollout of the television show.

DECODE has also received a
commission for season two of Planet Sketch, its co-production with Aardman Animations. The new 26×11-minute
episodes have already presold to ARD (Germany), LUK (Spain), Jetix (Italy,
Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Netherlands), SVT (Sweden), NRK
(Norway), TV2 (Denmark), Nickelodeon France, Australian Broadcasting
Corporation and VRT (Belgium).

Steven DeNure, the president of DECODE Entertainment, noted,
Planet Sketch is a quirky show in an
original animated sketch show format and the response has been great—it’s
really caught the imagination of kids in its target demographic.”
