Darlow Smithson Receives Commission for Waco Doc

LONDON, July 20: Darlow Smithson Productions has been
commissioned by Channel 4 and Discovery Channel in the U.S. to produce a
two-hour docudrama on the 1993 siege in Waco, Texas.

Inside Waco will
chronicle what happened on April 19, 1993, when, after a 51-day standoff, the
FBI raided the headquarters of David Koresh’s Branch Davidians cult, resulting
in the deaths of 80 people including 21 children. The film uses dramatic
reenactments, interviews with survivors, archives and surveillance footage.
Julian Ware, executive producer of the special, noted, “We have gained
extraordinary access to law enforcement agents as well as survivors of the
siege—some of whom are speaking on camera for the very first time. This
documentary promises to reveal the shocking truth about the dramatic and
controversial events.”

The film, scheduled for broadcast later this year, will be
distributed internationally by TWI.
