CTV Signs On for Canadian Film Series

TORONTO, September 5: My
Canada
, a series of
director-narrated documentary films from producer Michael Burns along with CTV,
is set to premiere in Vancouver in 2010.

Managing partners on the
project include Arts and Communications, Nuria Bronfman and Manifest
Communications. The series will feature Canada’s top filmmakers creating
personal “odes” to their hometowns. Confirmed to participate are Atom Egoyan
(Victoria), Julia Kwan (Vancouver), Gary Burns (Calgary), Charles Binamé
(Montréal), Don McKellar (Toronto), Patricia Rozema (Sarnia) and Thom
Fitzgerald (Halifax). Following its debut in Vancouver in 2010, coinciding with
the Winter Olympic Games, My Canada will roll out at cultural events across the region.

“CTV is thrilled to
support this country’s filmmakers and this unique project that will debut when
the eyes of the world will be upon Canada,” said Susanne Boyce, the president
of creative, content and channels for CTV. “The My Canada series gives Canadians and the world at large a
glimpse into our thriving and diverse country. The high-caliber filmmakers know
and love the communities they’re profiling, giving viewers intimate film tours
from an insider’s perspective.”

“This project is a film
producer’s dream come true, being able to work with Canada’s most talented
filmmakers in this way,” said Burns. “We are thrilled that CTV has recognized
the importance and cultural value of this project and joined us as the only
founding partner. This is a project which will be a revelation to Canada and
the world.”
