Comedy Central Gives Go Ahead to Recreating Classic Series

NEW YORK, May 8: Comedy
Central has greenlit The Gong Show with Dave Attell, an updated version of the 1970’s variety-show
spoof, to premiere on July 17.

The Gong Show with Dave
Attell is executive produced by
Happy Madison Productions and Andrew Golder (Identity, Win Ben Stein’s Money), in association with Sony Pictures Television.
The series, an off-beat talent-search program, will watch eight to ten acts get
judged by a revolving panel of three celebrities. The search for performers is already
under way.
