CMG to Rep Chris Rock Doc

LOS ANGELES: Cinema Management Group (CMG) has reached a deal with Liddell Entertainment to represent the international sales rights to Chris Rock’s recently released feature documentary Good Hair.

The film, which won the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, explores the role of hairstyles in the black community, visiting beauty salons, hairstyling battles, labs and Indian temples to understand this $9-billion industry. Director Jeff Stilson follows actor and comedian Rock on his journey, which was prompted by his daughter asking him: “Daddy, how come I don’t have good hair?” An HBO Films presentation, Good Hair has garnered box-office results of $2.8 million in its first 17 days of theatrical release via Liddell Entertainment and Roadside Attractions.

The film is one of CMG’s highlights at the AFM this week, as is The Collector, which the company, led by Edward Noeltner, also acquired from Liddell Entertainment. The suspense thriller stars Josh Stewart, Michael Reilly Burke, Andrea Roth and Madeline Zima.
