CJ Entertainment to Rep The Garden of Evening Mists

South Korea’s CJ Entertainment has acquired the global rights for The Garden of Evening Mists (TGOEM), a film based on the book of the same name by Tan Twan Eng.

TGOEM tells the story of a woman who, after the horrors of World War II, looks to find peace in the Cameron Highlands, where she begins a forbidden romance with a gardener. The film features an international cast that includes Sinje Lee (The Eye), Hiroshi Abe (After the Storm), Sylvia Chang (Love Education), David Oakes (Cold Skin), Julian Sands (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and John Hannah (The Mummy).

TGOEM is a joint production between Astro Shaw, HBO Asia and the National Film Development Corporation of Malaysia (FINAS). The film is directed by Taiwan’s Tom Lin and adapted by Scotland’s Richard Smith. It is slated for release next year.
