Cineflix Closes Deals Ahead of DISCOP

LONDON: Nearly 80 hours of programming has been sold by Cineflix International into Central and Eastern Europe in the run-up to DISCOP, including sales on Animals at Work and The Unsellables.

TV Puls in Poland has licensed a volume package deal of 45 hours from Cineflix. This includes family-entertainment shows made originally for the BBC: Animals At Work and The Unsellables. TV Puls also picked up all four seasons of Windfall Films’ Huge Moves, which follows the logistical adventures and stories surrounding the movement of huge structures across land, sea and air. Also in Poland, Tele 5 has followed up its acquisition of the first series of Australian hit Border Security with the second 20×30-minute season, again following the expert team patrolling and protecting Australia’s borders.

Czech TV, meanwhile, went for 23 hour-long episodes of Mayday: Air Disaster. Russian state broadcaster Channel One bagged the rights to the episode of Final24 that examines the string of errors that led to his tragic demise of John F Kennedy, Jr., with a plan to broadcast on July 16, the anniversary of his death.

Paul Underhay, who was recently appointed sales manager for the territory at Cineflix, said: "This is my first time attending DISCOP and it’s incredibly encouraging to have been able to close so many deals recently across a healthy spread of both our home-grown and third-party titles. We’re within a hair’s breadth of also closing a whole new clutch of deals, so I’m hoping my debut will be a happy one."
