Channel 4, Discovery Commission Doc on Europe’s Tallest Building

LONDON, July 18: Channel 4
and Discovery Networks EMEA have commissioned DCD Media-owned West Park
Pictures to produce a two-part documentary about London Bridge Tower.

With a working title of Tallest
Tower, the hour-long episodes will
document the construction of Europe’s tallest habitable building, standing at
1,016 feet, through exclusive access to the site over three years. Generating
its own energy, this environmentally sustainable community houses offices,
apartments, shops and a seven-star hotel, and will open in time for the 2012
London Olympics.

Tallest Tower is
executive produced by Andre Singer and directed by Mandy Chang for West Park
Pictures. It was commissioned for Channel 4 by David Glover and for Discovery
Networks EMEA by Lisa Weinbrenn.

Singer, the CEO and
creative director for West Park Pictures, said: “We are delighted to have the
opportunity to document step by step the trials and tribulations that are
inevitable with a project of this magnitude. It will no doubt generate strong
interest from broadcasters and audiences internationally.”
