VP of Sales, Venevision International

What are some of your top properties for MIPTV?
At the forefront of our proposal for MIPTV this year is the intriguing telenovela titled Sacrifico de mujer [A Woman’s Sacrifice], which is being produced by our sister company Venevision Productions in Miami, Florida, starring Majorie de Sousa and Juan Alfonso Baptista. As is expected, we will present a variety of quality programming with a concentration of our forte, the telenovela, as we showcase such top productions as Salvador de mujeres [Salvador: A Knockout Lover], Tomasa Tequiero [Millionaire Maid], Pecadora [Sinner], and Un esposo para Estela [A Husband For Estela], to mention a few of our proven novelas.

Why will these programs appeal to buyers?
As we all know the telenovela genre maintains its international appeal for broadcasters and audiences around the globe. And to solidify our standing as a leader of the genre, this year we expanded our production infrastructure to include the production of our new telenovela Salvador de mujeres [Salvador: A Knockout Lover], which is currently being produced in Colombia, along with our other novelas originating in Miami (Sacrificio de mujer [A Woman’s Sacrifice] and Pecadora [Sinner]) and Venezuela (Tomas Tequiero [Millionaire Maid] and Los misterios del amor [Mysteries of Love]) to offer a more complete and versatile package of titles and storylines to fit any broadcaster’s needs in today’s market.

What are your goals and expectations for MIPTV?
Our objectives for MIPTV are straightforward as we look to reinforce our presence in the European and Asian regions, while continuing to expand the reach of our formats and the opportunities of co-productions in international markets; additionally, this year we will seek and evaluate third-party products with the potential of distributing them in Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market.
