CCTV to Open U.S. Hub

BEIJING: China’s state-owned broadcaster, China Central Television (CCTV), is to open a studio in the U.S. in Washington, D.C., where it will broadcast its English-language TV service.

The Washington, D.C. hub will serve as its U.S. broadcasting center. The plans are to start broadcasting from the site by the middle of 2012, with six hours of original programming produced a day. CCTV also has a studio in Nairobi for its English-language service to reach African viewers.
