CBS Interactive Unveils Interactive Viewing Rooms

SAN FRANCISCO, October 20:
CBS Interactive is launching “Social Viewing Rooms,” an initiative with Intel
as the lead sponsor that lets fans watch CBS shows while interacting with
friends online.

CBS will have Social
Viewing Rooms available for prime time, daytime and CBS Classics. Viewers of a
show can chat, make comments and interact with customized virtual objects on
the screen.

"The web offers a
unique opportunity to do more than just rebroadcast entertainment
content," said Anthony Soohoo, the senior VP and general manager for
entertainment at CBS Interactive. "The CBS.com Social Viewing Room is a
next-generation social-media platform that lets users engage with each other
and the content they are watching in a fun new way, while at the same time
giving advertisers an opportunity to connect with this engaged audience."
