Cash Cab Heads to U.S. Syndication

LOS ANGELES: MGM Domestic Television has taken on the U.S. broadcast syndication rights for the hit Discovery Channel game show Cash Cab.

The series features host Ben Bailey driving a New York City taxi, picking up unsuspecting passengers who find themselves on camera for a quiz show. As the meter ticks away as they head to their destination, contestants must answer questions, which get harder as the time progresses. If they miss three, they are ejected from the cab, wherever they are. The series is produced for Discovery Channel by Lion Television. MGM Domestic Television will be offering the series starting fall 2010.

"Cash Cab is an addictive game show with a built-in fan base and a proven track record, making it an ideal choice for broadcasters,” said John Bryan, the executive VP of broadcast strategy for MGM. “We’re very excited to be bringing Cash Cab to U.S. syndication.”

Cash Cab combines the fast-pace of a game show with knowledge and entertainment which are core attributes of Discovery content,” added Tom Cosgrove, the COO and executive VP of Discovery Channel. “We look forward to teaming with MGM, building awareness for one of our highly popular series and attracting a wider audience for Cash Cab in the syndication marketplace.”
