Canamedia Makes New Hire

TORONTO: Johanna Samuel has been appointed the VP of international co-productions and acquisitions, a newly created position, at Canamedia.

Samuel will be based in Toronto. Prior to this she was the VP of international television/content program and archive acquisitions and sales for CBC, the VP of acquisitions for Fox Lorber and Warner Bros. International, and most recently founded Nightwood International Distribution.

“Johanna’s experience selling world-renowned documentaries coupled with her incredible experience in co-productions, acquisitions and sales will definitely be an asset to the Canamedia team,” said Mike Lolato, the managing director of worldwide broadcast sales at Canamedia.

Doug Connolly, the president of Canamedia and sister company Distribution Access, added, “In addition to growing our documentary division, Johanna will also focus on increasing revenues from the ITN Footage Library in Canada while contributing to the growing number of our projects in development.”
