What have been some of your biggest successes in Central & Eastern Europe in the past year?
The series “The Cartel” was the biggest hit for Caracol last year being the highest budget production in our channel history. It is a show that was sold to more than 15 territories before even being on air. In just two weeks became one of the most successful export products in the history of Colombia television, being sold to be broadcasted in 50 territories around the world in 9 different languages. “Mafia Dolls”, a 58 episode series about the life of the women of the drug dealing world, has also been demanded specially for both format adaptation and canned product. At Caracol we are always innovating, our series have trendy topics like “The Cartel” and “Without Breast there´s no Paradise” that is also being adapted by different networks around the world”. Our Telenovelas go beyond of the classic romantic drama without leaving that aside, giving them a sense of humor and a more typical lively touch that attracts audiences beyond women that are the typical audience of telenovelas.

What are your biggest markets in the region, and where do you see new opportunities for growth?
Currently our biggest markets are Romania and Bulgaria and we have identified new opportunities that offer an important grow in countries such as Poland, Serbia and Hungary where the demand of the finished product is growing.

Are you focusing on completed novela sales, or format/script sales?
We are focused on selling both the canned product and the format/script. Each country is different and each client has their special needs so we work with the programming team trying to find what works best for them.

What kinds of novelas are in demand here?
I would say that right now for example in Central and Eastern Europe there is a high demand for the Classic Novela.

How have you seen the demand for novelas change in Central & Eastern Europe over the last year?
Last year we saw a considerable increment on the demand for our novelas, this based on the success and name that Caracol has acquire through the years, the high quality that Caracol puts to their novelas and the renown casts, are some of the factors that contribute to the high demand for our products and the high ratings that they generate.
– What are your overall expectations for DISCOP this year?
We want to implement new marketing strategies that will allow us to reach out to countries and regions that still don’t know our products. Create new demand, continue to deliver high quality products to our current customers and solidify even more the international name of Caracol productions. We believe that the same success that our novelas have had in other countries can be achieved in new markets.
