LOS ANGELES/TORONTO: The half-hour Canadian comedy Call Me Fitz, which debuted in fall 2010 on HBO Canada, has found a U.S. home with DIRECTV, via a deal scored by Entertainment One (eOne), Amaze Film + Television and Big Motion Pictures.

The 13-episode series will premiere on April 21 on DIRECTV’s The 101 Network. The show, which stars Jason Priestley of Beverly Hills, 90210 fame, has been sold into more than 60 countries worldwide.

Call Me Fitz is a perfect addition to The 101 Network’s lineup of critically acclaimed programming,” said Patty Ishimoto, the VP of entertainment at DIRECTV and general manager of The 101 Network. “We are excited to introduce our viewers to this hilariously intelligent series and for them to experience Jason Priestley’s completely transformative performance.”

"I’m excited for Americans to meet Richard Fitzpatrick,” commented Priestley. “He is like no other character on television. And Call Me Fitz is like no other show on television… that’s why it belongs on DIRECTV."

“We’re thrilled to be teaming up with DIRECTV for the first time,” added Peter Emerson, the president of eOne Television International. “DIRECTV’s The 101 Network is a great example of a new and exciting platform for delivering original content to audiences and we think that Fitz’ charm will win over DIRECTV’s customers across the U.S.”
