CABLEready Scores New Non-Fiction Sales

NORWALK, August 9: CABLEready has finalized deals for a
wide variety of its non-fiction programming in Australia, Asia and the Middle
East, including a significant package going to Crime & Investigation
Network in Australia.

In the deal with Crime &
Investigation Network in Australia are three episodes of the series Busted
Everywhere,
which shows surveillance
footage of employees caught in the act of rude, lewd and crude behavior in the
workplace; 12 episodes of Police Force, a one-hour series following the dangerous lives of law enforcement
officials battling to protect communities; 18 episodes of Accident
Investigator
, which examines three cases
per hour from multiple angles; and 14 episodes of the half-hour series Wildlife
Detectives
, which solves real wildlife
mysteries that affect our planet’s delicate ecosystem.

In addition, Crime &
Investigation Network has picked up four hour-long specials, including Gangs:
Escaping the Life
, which delves into the
mentality of ex-gang members; When Good Times Go Bad, which documents terrifying stories of celebrations
gone wrong; VICAP: On the Trail of Violence, which reveals the inner workings of the Violent
Criminal Apprehension Program; and Brotherhood of Hate, revealing the virulent and dangerous mentality of
white supremacy in America. Crime & Investigation Network also renewed Forensic
Files
for 113 half-hour episodes.

The History Channel in
Australia has acquired three one-hour specials, including The Lindbergh Baby
Kidnapping
, featuring three of the world’s top forensic experts
as they re-analyze the evidence surrounding this legal mystery; Stolen
Treasures
, which follows a six-month
investigation into the illegal smuggling of an ancient Egyptian headstone; and Return
to Area 51
, which recounts the experiences
of people who worked at the secret government compound.

Also in Australia, Weather
Channel has secured one hour-long and 22 half-hour episodes of It Could
Happen Tomorrow
, about natural disasters
that could befall major population centers. Lifestyle FOOD picked up 35
half-hour episodes of A Cook’s Tour,
following chef and author Anthony Bourdain’s quest for the ultimate dining
experience. The Biography Channel has also purchased seven hour-long episodes
and three two-hour episodes of Inside the Actors Studio. Meanwhile, home video distributor Eagle
Entertainment has bagged the Australian home entertainment rights to four DVD
sets of Inside the Actors Studio.

In Asia, South Korea’s A9 Media
acquired three episodes of On the Inside,
which offers a glimpse into three unique walks of life, while Japan’s Channel 4
(Nippon) renewed the half-hour series Medical Detectives, which profiles intriguing crimes solved by using
science. The Japanese broadcaster picked up one episode of the series.
Also in Japan, Step by Step Co. purchased
home entertainment rights to four DVD sets of Inside the Actors
Studio
.

In the Middle East, Future
Television has renewed their order for Inside the Actors Studio.
