Brazilian Neuroscientist Takes Center Stage in New GloboDOC

SÃO PAULO: The latest installment in TV Globo’s GloboDOC strand spotlights the Brazilian neuroscientist Miguel Nicolelis, who recently received the Pioneer Award from the American government.

Nicolelis received the Pioneer Award, which is the most prestigious scientific award given by the American government to biomedical researchers in recognition of their innovative approaches. Nicolelis is the first Brazilian to be part of the 81 researchers awarded with the Pioneer Award. The scientist plans to invest the $2.5 million prize on nervous system functioning and brain-machine interaction research.

Miguel Nicolelis: Transforming Lives will be the newest addition to the GloboDOC lineup, which features documentaries that reflect Brazilian facts, way of life, culture, places and personalities.
