BKN Unveils MIPCOM Titles

LONDON, October 4: BKN International will be at MIPCOM
highlighting its various kids’ properties, led by Dork Hunters from Outer
Space
, Zorro: Generation Z and Stone Age.

“At BKN we always strive to offer our clients a variety of
programming, therefore we’ve been conscious that all three of our newest
properties are versatile in very different ways,” said Nicola Andrews, the managing
director of BKN New Media.

Andrews cites the use of humor as a selling point for Dork
Hunters from Outer Space
. “We’ve been
careful to ensure that the jokes can translate internationally, so that kids
all around the world can easily identify with the series’ visual humor as well
as laugh and identify with the silly predicaments our good guys find themselves
in as they try to save the universe on a daily basis.”

Zorro: Generation Z,
meanwhile, “is already an internationally recognized story, so we’ve simply
given our charismatic hero a modern twist to grab the viewers imagination.
Instead of a horse, our teenage Zorro rides a fantastic high-tech motorbike
(the Tornado Z) and he has a wide range of super gadgets, but the story stays
true to its classic roots and it’s all about good versus evil.”

The 52×11-minute Stone Age, meanwhile, “follows the lives of a group of kids—they’re your
everyday kids, at your everyday school, with your everyday problems such as
homework and detention—but again, with a twist: the series is all set in
pre-historic times.”

The series, Andrews adds, is also the first 100-percent HD
series to be produced at the company’s new HD studios in London. “BKN believes
that the market is rapidly moving away from analogue or standard definition to
digital and HD news, sport and films and that the animation market will need to
follow suit sooner rather than later.”

Andrews adds that BKN has high expectations for the market
next week, “given the success and expansion BKN has already enjoyed in 2007,
the fact that we recently announced the launch of our own HD studio here in
London, and our ever expanding slate of programming.”
