Big Brother Gets First Indonesian Commission

LONDON/HONG KONG: Endemol has scored its first Indonesian commission for its reality-TV hit Big Brother.

The new commission comes from broadcaster Trans TV, which will produce a local version of Big Brother in house. The reality series is set to air on the network in April.

Big Brother has already debuted in the region, airing in Thailand, India and the Philippines.

Arjen van Mierlo, Endemol’s CEO of Asian operations, commented: “Big Brother continues to be a world beating phenomenon more than a decade after its launch. There is a strong appetite in Asia for reality entertainment and Big Brother can deliver must-see TV that will have viewers hooked. We’re proud to be bringing the format to Indonesia for the first time and excited about the show’s launch on Trans TV.”

Wishnutama Kusubandio, the president and director of Trans TV, added: “Big Brother has a great fan base all over the world and I’m extremely proud to be the first broadcaster to bring the show to Indonesia. This is the ultimate reality format and I truly believe it will be a big hit with viewers all over the country.”
