BET Slates New Docuseries, Game Show

PASADENA: Four new series have been added to BET’s schedule, including Inside DTP, which gives a behind-the-scenes look at the Atlanta music and record company DTP.

Founded by Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Chaka Zulu and Jeff Dixon, DTP—which stands for Disturbing Tha Peace—is a record company that helped bring hip hop to a global audience in the 1990s. The docu-reality series Inside DTP will look at how the the company is ready to reinvent and resuscitate the music industry, demonstrating how family bonds, loyalty and innovation can help them excel in this competitive industry. The show premieres October 27.

Recording artist Tyrese Gibson narrates the original series First In. Premiering October 2, the 10×30-minute First In spotlights Compton’s firefighters and paramedics as they balance their high-stress jobs with family life. Grammy-winning artist Monica takes center stage in a new docudrama Monica, launching October 27. The show will follow the R&B singer as she works on her fifth album, launches a new clothing line and juggles being a full-time mother.

Also on the slate, the new game show Pay It Off gives contestants a chance to change their lives by paying off mounting debt. Hosted by actress and comedienne Kim Coles, the one-hour show premieres September 30. It’s divided into five rounds, with increasing levels of difficulty and increasing amounts of money at stake. If the contestant makes it through all five rounds, they have a chance to play in the final bonus round.
