BBC’s What Not To Wear Enters Latin American Market

NEW YORK, August 30: BBC Worldwide has licensed the format
to What Not To Wear to Brazilian
terrestrial broadcaster SBT for the show’s first Latin American adaptation.

What Not To Wear centers
around two extremely outspoken presenters giving style advice to those in need
of wardrobe makeovers. Each week, one person, secretly nominated by someone in
his or her life, will undergo a lesson in style. The contestant will then be
given money to buy a new wardrobe under the rules laid out by the presenters.

Daniela A Beyruti, the artistic director at SBT, noted: “We knew
straight away that our audience would love this format with its combination of
a human interest story mixed with great style and clothing advice. It is
perfect for Brazilians, who are very keen followers of reality shows.”

“We are finding that our wide range of formats are becoming
increasingly popular in Latin America,” said Jose Sanchez, BBC Worldwide’s VP
for Latin America. “With reality, game show and scripted formats in our
catalogue, we believe we present a great opportunity for broadcasters to
introduce exciting new shows to their schedules. We will be sharing many of
these entertainment formats at BBC Showcase, our event in Rio next month.”
