LONDON: BBC Worldwide has scored a deal with Grammy Award-winning Radiohead to distribute internationally a new and exclusive live performance of the music group’s eighth album, The King of Limbs.

The 55-minute performance, titled Radiohead—The King of Limbs: Live From the Basement, will feature the band performing the new album in a studio setting, along with additional behind-the-scenes footage. It will be the first time that the band members are shot on camera this year.

The album was released digitally in February and physically in March, however, this exclusive performance will be the first time Radiohead will have played the collection in public. The band will be performing for the music show From the Basement, which comes from music producer Nigel Godrich, who has been involved in Radiohead’s albums since The Bends.

Radiohead—The King of Limbs: Live From the Basement launched at MIPTV and BBC Worldwide has already received presale offers from a range of territories.

Salim Mukaddam, the VP of music television at BBC Worldwide, said, “It is a real honor to be working with Radiohead on this project. Radiohead are a band that rarely performs for television, but when they do, it’s a moment to savor. There is already huge anticipation for this performance and we’re delighted that they’ve decided to work with us at BBC Worldwide, confirming our position as market leaders in music television. As a fan, I cannot wait to see these beautiful songs brought to life in this program.”

Bryce Edge of Courtyard Management, Radiohead’s management company, commented: “This will be Radiohead’s first collaboration with BBC Worldwide and the band are excited at the prospect of having their first live performance of The King of Limbs broadcast around the world. The band will be filmed and recorded by the From The Basement team, which includes Nigel Godrich, their long-time producer, Dilly Gent, who commissioned many of the memorable Radiohead videos, and Grant Gee, who filmed the Radiohead documentary Meeting People is Easy.”
