LONDON: BBC Worldwide has sold the natural history series Frozen Planet, narrated by Sir David Attenborough, to 12 broadcasters internationally.

The series is produced by Alastair Fothergill at the BBC’s Natural History unit. It has been picked up by Australia’s Nine Network, NHK in Japan, VRT in Belgium, YLE in Finland, BBC Knowledge in South Africa, New Zealand’s TVNZ, NPO in Netherlands, Italy’s RAI, Denmark’s DR, Norway’s NRK, Channel 1 in Russian and SVT in Sweden.

Steve Macallister, the president and managing director for BBC Worldwide sales and distribution, said, “BBC Worldwide has a long history of bringing to market the most captivating, and spectacular natural history series in the world. Frozen Planet, the latest offering from BBC Earth is nothing short of phenomenal and it’s no surprise to me that so many broadcasters have snapped it up before it has even gone to air.”

Also on the natural history slate for MIPCOM is the series Great Barrier Reef. It investigates how the reef was created, how it works and more. John Downer’s Earthflight, which features aerial images of the world as seen by migrating birds, will also be on offer, as well as the series How Life Work.

On the science slate, Planet Dinosaur presents a new global perspective on the creatures and How Plants Made Us offers a new perspective on the Earth’s history. Origins of Us explores the anatomical changes humans have gone through.
