BBC Worldwide Channels Names Director for South Asia

SINGAPORE/LONDON: Deepak Shourie has been named the director for BBC Worldwide Channels in South Asia, to be based in New Delhi.

Shourie will lead the management for the channels in the region. Shourie joins the company from a seven-year stint at Discovery Communications India, where he served as executive VP and managing director. He was responsible for launching Discovery Travel & Living in India.

Shourie will report into Mark Whitehead, the senior VP and general manager of BBC Worldwide Channels Asia. Whitehead commented, “We are very excited to have Deepak join us to make further inroads into South Asia. He brings a great depth of knowledge, experience and numerous personal relationships that will enable us to shift into the next stage of growth for the channels business in the region.”
