BBC Commissions Great British Summer

LONDON, June 26: BBC One has commissioned Lion Television to
produce the documentary Great British Summer, looking at beloved summer traditions.

Narrated by long-time British gardening television host Alan
Titchmarsh, the four-part series travels across the U.K. to examine some of the
British Isles’ most-beloved summer traditions, including Summer Solstice,
Mayday, the Goodwood Festival and some lesser-known summer activities that have
helped define the area. “Great British Summer is the kind of high production value and skillfully made
documentary programming that Lion enjoys making,” said Jeremy Mills, the
production company’s MD. “Our British summers are like no others around the
world, each month of the season has its own story and we are thrilled to have
Alan on board to help do those stories justice.”

Slated to air in August, the
series is to be distributed worldwide by All3Media International.
