BBC Bags Season Two of Tudors

LONDON, October 17: Just two weeks since The Tudors’ launch on BBC Two, the pubcaster has announced the
acquisition of the second season of the acclaimed Showtime drama.

Starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, The Tudors chronicles the early life of Henry VIII and his
close coterie of advisors, minions and lovers. Season one wrapped its U.S. run
earlier this year. Since its October 5 launch in the U.K., it has delivered BBC
Two's best Friday peak share in 13 weeks, averaging 3.2 million viewers and a
15.3 percent share.

George McGhee, the controller of program acquisitions at the
BBC, said: “Henry VIII and his six wives are still compulsory viewing in the 21st
century as portrayed by this young and excellent cast and the BBC is a great
home for the series."

Set for broadcast next year, the second season was shot in
Ireland this summer. It is produced by Peace Arch and TM Productions in
association with the CBC and Showtime Networks and has been acquired from Sony
Pictures Television International.
