NEW YORK: BBC America has signed on to co-produce a new BBC Three drama, The Fades, from Jack Thorne, whose credits include Skins and This is England ’86.

The 6×1-hour series, destined for the Supernatural Saturday lineup (home currently to the new season of Doctor Who), stars two former Skins actors, Lily Loveless and Daniel Kaluuya, as well as Coronation Street‘s Iain De Caestecker, The Tudors‘ Natalie Dormer and Merlin‘s Tom Ellis, among others.

In production in the U.K., the BBC Drama Productions title follows Paul, a reluctant teenage hero who is haunted by apocalyptic dreams and starts to see spirits of the dead around him. One of those spirits finds a way to be human again, putting Paul and his friends in danger.

"Jack Thorne is one of the U.K.’s most exciting writing talents, and The Fades intelligently blends comedy and horror into a mythological storyline—a mix in keeping with other shows in our Supernatural Saturday lineup," said Perry Simon, general manager for channels at BBC Worldwide America. "We’re pleased to partner again with our colleagues at BBC Drama Productions on another quality series."
