Bavaria Media Highlights DISCOP Slate

MUNICH/BUDAPEST: Titles such as the romantic TV movies This Time It’s Love and Sweet Summer will be on offer from Bavaria Media in Budapest this week.

Bavaria will be presenting the two new romantic TV movies This Time It’s Love and Sweet Summer. This Time It’s Love is the seventh movie of the popular Lilly Schönauer collection and tells the story of divorced cardiologist, who gives marriage a second chance, even though her teenage daughter is not too particularly fond of her new man. Sweet Summer is yet another installment in the well-established romance franchise based on short stories and novels by Utta Danella. Sweet Summer centers on a young woman who tracks down her father after unexpectedly learning his true identity. Heinrich Breloer’s TV adaptation of Thomas Mann’s Buddenbrooks: The Decline of a Family is a further highlight in Bavaria’s DISCOP catalogue, after having been launched at MIPTV.

“Our long-running series such as Storm of Love have proven outstandingly successful in the CEE countries,” commented Oliver Kreuter, the head of television at Bavaria Media. “We are confident that our new programs in this vein, Second Chance and Lilli and the Girls, will also appeal to the buyers at DISCOP.”

Bavaria will also take part in organizing the co-production conference and networking program in Budapest, DISCOPRO, on June 16. “It is our goal to grow our relationship with Eastern European partners on all levels,” said Helge Köhnen, the head of Eastern European affairs at Bavaria Media. Alongside Philipp Kreuzer, the head of financing with Bavaria Television Production, Köhnen will host a panel discussion on the subject of international co-production at DISCOPRO, featuring speakers from Italy (Mediaset), France (France Télévisions) and the U.K. (BBC). The presentation will be followed by a pitching session of ten television projects in need of additional co-production funding.
