Banff Names Director for 2009 Awards

TORONTO, October 6: The
Banff World Television Festival has appointed Georges Leclere as the director
of its annual awards festival, The Rockies, set for June 9.

Leclere is the founder and
president of TV producer LGMA and was previously the senior VP of the
International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, handling the
International Emmy Awards from 1997 to 2006. He was also the executive producer
of the International Emmy Awards Gala ceremony and television shows.

“Georges has a tremendous
reputation throughout the international television industry,” said Robert
Montgomery, the CEO of the Banff World Television Festival. “The combination of
his insight and vast knowledge with the prestigious Banff World Television
Awards is a perfect match.”

“I have been an admirer of
both the Banff World Television Festival and The Rockies for a number of years
and am thrilled by the opportunity to contribute my experience to what is
already the largest and most esteemed television content competition in the
world,” said Leclere.

The Banff World Television
Awards receives more than 1,000 entries for its 20 program categories annually.
It is set to take place during the Banff World Television Festival in Banff,
Alberta, from June 7 to 10, 2009.
