LONDON: BabyTV has struck a licensing agreement with Portuguese publisher Porto Editora, as well as a deal with Smart Kids Canada to launch BabyTV books in North America.

In Portugal, Porto Editora will license a range of book formats, including storybooks, activity books and shaped books based on BabyTV’s characters and IP. The products are set to launch in the second quarter of 2011.

Smart Kids Canada plans to launch a range of BabyTV’s early learning interactive books in the fourth quarter of 2011. The first product to be launched is an interactive book featuring a piano keyboard with number- and color-coded musical notes to encourage motor-skill development, learning colors and musical concepts.

Ralf Kies, the director of licensing and merchandising for BabyTV, said: “We are very pleased to see both Porto Editora and Smart Kids bring our publishing program to life in their respective markets and we are confident that we will expand the BabyTV brand further across other categories in the near future.”
