Babelgum to Feature Over the Hedge Animated Shorts

LONDON/NEW YORK: The new animated web series Over the Hedge, based on the syndicated comic strip from Michael Fry and T Lewis, will premiere exclusively on Babelgum.

Over the Hedge, which was the inspiration behind the hit 2006 DreamWorks Animation film of the same name, tells the story of a raccoon, a turtle and a squirrel who struggle to come to terms with their woodlands being taken over by suburbia. The new series will feature animated versions of the popular print comic featuring the character art from the strip. RingTales, which produces Over the Hedge, already has a deal in place with Babelgum to exclusively premiere new installments of Scott Adam’s Dilbert animated cartoons and the New Yorker animated cartoons, both online and for mobile.

Over the Hedge is one of the Babelgum team’s favorite movies and we feel privileged to give RJ, Verne and Hammy their online debut,” said Amber J. Lawson, Babelgum’s publisher of the Babelgum Comedy Channel. “Our viewers have demonstrated, time again, a real interest in short-form animated content and if RingTales’ Dilbert and New Yorker cartoons are any indication, Over the Hedge is sure to be another hit.”

"I’m thrilled to bring Over the Hedge to an animated format, once again, and see T Lewis’ original character art set to life," added Over the Hedge’s co-creator and writer, Michael Fry. "I think fans of both our strip and the DreamWorks Animation film will enjoy these shorts very much."
