AXN Announces Central European Expansion

LONDON: AXN has launched on platforms in Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Macedonia and Montenegro, targeting 18- to 34-year-olds with U.S. series and movies, as part of its continued European expansion.

Sony Pictures Television’s new feed for these territories will be managed by Eddie Nelson, the general manager for AXN in Central Europe, and supported locally by a dedicated marketing and sales office in Zagreb. Announcing the launch, Ross Hair, the executive VP of international networks at Sony, noted: “Our launch across the Adriatic is an exciting new development for AXN, one of our most successful channel brands at SPT. We look forward to sharing AXN’s high-energy, high quality programming with audiences in these eight new markets and to a fruitful partnership with pay-tv operators in the region. The continued growth of AXN positions the channel as an entertainment powerhouse and a compelling destination for viewers and advertisers alike.”

In Central Europe, AXN is already available in Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria. It is also carried in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Russia and the countries of the CIS. Around the world, AXN is now watched in more than 70 countries, reaching more than 150 million households.
